Wilco Louw: Ultimate Rugby

Wilco Mario Louw, born on 20 July 1994 in Ceres, South Africa, is a South African rugby union player. He is best known for his role as a prop. Standing at a height of 1.85 meters (6 feet 1 inch) and weighing 126 kilograms (278 pounds), Louw possesses a formidable physical presence on the field.

Louw's rugby journey began with his inclusion in the South Africa Under-20 squad for the 2014 IRB Junior World Championship held in New Zealand. Following his international stint, he returned to domestic action and made five starts for the Blue Bulls U21s during the Under-21 Provincial Championship, impressively scoring a try.

In 2015, Louw's talent caught the attention of the Stormers, as he was included in their wider training group and ultimately earned a spot in their final squad for the season. His remarkable performances during the 2017 Super Rugby season led to his selection for the South Africa A team, which faced the French Barbarians.

Louw's dedication and skill further paid off when he made his test debut for the Springboks as a substitute against New Zealand in Cape Town in October. He went on to earn his first test start against France in November of the same year. In recognition of his consistent performances, he was named in the Springbok squad for the June Internationals in 2018.

His impressive journey continued in 2019, as Louw received a call-up to the Springboks squad for their International Friendly clash against Argentina. Following the Currie Cup season, he joined Western Province, and later signed a short-term deal with Toulon in preparation for the Rugby World Cup.

In 2020, Louw embarked on a new chapter in his career by signing a deal with Premiership club Harlequins. His experience as a 13-time Springbok and his commanding presence as a prop make him a valuable asset to his teams on both the domestic and international stage.
