A bruising, ball-carrying center with an eye for the try line, André Esterhuizen has built a reputation as one of the most powerful midfielders in world rugby.
Born in Klerksdorp, South Africa, he rose through the Sharks system before making his senior debut in 2013 and starring for the Junior Boks at the 2014 World Championship.
Esterhuizen joined Harlequins in 2020, helping the London club to a thrilling Premiership title in 2021.
He was named RPA Players’ Player of the Year in 2022 and twice voted Harlequins' Player of the Season, with fans and peers alike recognizing his blend of physicality and finesse.
Despite his pedigree, Esterhuizen has often flown under the radar internationally, with world-class competition like Damian de Allende, Jesse Kriel and Lukhanyo Am ahead of him in the Springboks pecking order. Yet his performances speak volumes, and he remains a Rugby World Cup winner and a vital force in green and gold.
