Ockert Antonie 'Tonie' Roux, the Northern Transvaal centre/fulllback, never tasted that winning feeling in seven Springbok test caps between 1969 and 1974, although incredibly three of those matches were drawn. His test career began with a defeat to Scotland at Murrayfield, a loss to England and draws with Ireland and Wales. He was then on the losing side against England at Ellis Park in 1972, and during the 1974 visit of the British Lions he was recalled for the 3rd and 4th tests, which ended in a defeat and a draw. Roux was an unused bench replacement a further 13 times in which South Africa had a record of 11 won, 1 drawn, and 1 lost.
