Keith, of course, was known more for his kicking ability than for breaking, but if ever a man carried a provincial team it was he. For years Natal rugby revolved around him.

To my mind he stood in the wrong position when he kicked, but that was his style. That was what suited him and he succeeded for his province and his country.

He kicked many a team to victory, not only with drop and penalty goals, but with field kicks and foot-passes-kicking the ball to his own team and not to his opponents.

And, of course, Keith Oxlee was a grand team man, a pleasant personality, one who will always be counted among Springbok rugby's best.
