Pieter Jeremy Dixon was born on 17 October 1977 in Harare, then known as Salisbury, Zimbabwe. He was educated in South Africa at Maritzburg College, a school long known for producing tough, technically sound rugby players. Playing as hooker, Dixon combined compact strength with excellent mobility and a sound set-piece technique, traits that made him a valuable member of every squad he represented.
After finishing school, he established himself in Western Province rugby, where his consistent performances earned him a place among the country’s leading front-rowers at the turn of the century. His accuracy in the line-out and determined work in open play brought him to national attention, and in 2000 he was selected for the Springbok end-of-year tour to Argentina, Ireland, Wales, and England. Although he did not appear in a test match, he represented South Africa in several mid-week games and was awarded Springbok number 713 for his contribution.
Dixon later continued his career abroad with Bath Rugby in England, where he became a dependable and respected figure over many seasons. His professionalism, technical ability, and leadership made him a key member of the club’s forward unit throughout the 2000s.
Pieter Dixon remains remembered as a disciplined and technically accomplished hooker who served Western Province and the Springboks with distinction. Though he did not play in a test match, his career reflected the commitment and consistency of a true rugby professional.
