Bob Snedden, our second captain, was born in Scotland and died in the Cottage hospital in Liskeard, Cornwall, on 3rd April 1931. He was a bachelor and had one adopted son.

After emigrating to South Africa Snedden settled in Kimberley where he played for the Pirates Club and became a prominent figure.

He led the Cape Colony, Kimberley and Griqualand West against the touring 1891 British Isles, and although he played in only one test, the general feeling, also expressed by Barry Heatlie, was that he should have played in more.

He also represented Griqualand West at cricket, where his brother, William Henry, was president.
