Greatest Hooker in Zimbabwe Schools history.

With the 2027 World Cup closing in fast we will focus on some of the Great Players of the past that have shaped the game of rugby in Zimbabwe.

Our selection of the Greatest Hooker of all time goes to an old Milton Boy, Christopher David Rogers.

Chris was born in Masvingo in 1956 and honed his natural rugby talent at Milton High School in Bulawayo. He made his national debut (then Rhodesia) at the tender age of 20.

After playing 56 matches for his country he moved to South Africa where he became a household name and icon in Johannesburg's rugby mad fraternity, playing 97 games for the Transvaal provincial team. His years of hard work and dedication, in probably the most physically demanding position, finally paid off in 1984 when he got his Springbok call-up.

Chris now holds the record of being the only Springbok hooker in South African history to play more than 3 test matches without losing a test (100% win record as a Bok). The Springboks also outscored their opponents by more than double during his tenure, including that historic victory at his home ground, Ellis Park in Johannesburg, when the Boks destroyed England 35-9.

Our dream front row from the past would include Chris Rogers, Adrian Garvey and Tendai "The Beast" Mtawerira. Our reserve prop would be Andy MacDonald ( another Milton boy) who killed an injured lion in a life and death struggle with his bare hands.

We breed them tuff in this country...
