Craig Burden (born 13 May 1985 in Durban, South Africa) is a former professional rugby union player best known for his time with the Sharks in Super Rugby and the Currie Cup. He began his rugby journey at Maritzburg College, initially playing as a winger before transitioning to the hooker position during his tenure with the Sharks. Burden's dynamic playing style and physicality made him a formidable presence on the field. He made his debut for the Sharks in 2006 and remained with the team until 2013, after which he joined the French club Toulon.
Despite never earning a Test cap or participating in an official tour, Burden is officially recognized as Springbok number 837. This designation stems from his inclusion in the South African national squad during the 2012 Rugby Championship. At that time, South African rugby policy granted Springbok status to players who were selected for the national squad, even if they did not participate in a Test match or tour.
In addition to his national squad involvement, Burden represented a World XV on two occasions, showcasing his skills on an international platform.
